Abstract
<jats:p>Copper- and nitrogen-doped carbonaceous materials, obtained by a simple synthetic procedure are highly efficient and fast catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction. It is shown, that Cu(<jats:sc>i</jats:sc>) containing materials perform with faster reaction kinetics.</jats:p>
