Abstract
Nowadays ultrasonic distance sensors are widely used in automobiles, robotics and in industrial automation. Some functional principles of usable transducers for airborne ultrasonic distance measurements are shown. As every sensor principle, ultrasonic distance sensors have pros and cons which lead to some problems and challenges described below. For the main challenges (crosstalk and blind zone) some trends and solutions are presented.
