Abstract
Neither UML 2.0 nor the upcoming SysML 1.0 currently provides suffi- cient means for applications in the context of heterogeneous electronic systems de- scription and simulation. In this article, we demonstrate how general concepts of the simulation framework Ptolemy II seamlessly complement SysML to serve as a uni- versal description language covering discrete event as well as continuous behaviors.
